Telangana Government postpones all exams until Dusshera
All exams in Telangana has been postponed until the Dasara holidays, the state government annonuced.
Telangana Government has announced that all the exams in the state have been postponed until the Dasara holidays. The Indian meteorological department has predicted heavy rainfall until October 22, 2020 in the state. The state education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy made the announcement through her Twitter handle. The move is expected to give relief to more than 5 lakh students across the state. After many students had asked the education minister to postpone their supplementary exams after which the education minister made this announcement.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, JNTU Hyderabad and Osmania University exams had been earlier postponed till October 19, 20, 2020 due to heavy rainfall prediction. The decision to postpone the exams was taken after MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao suggested Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy to do the needful following a request by students to put off the exams. Controller of Examinations, Osmania University, Hyderabad said, “All exams under the jurisdiction of Osmania University scheduled on 14 and 15 October are postponed due to torrential rains.”
"We are postponing all the exams till Dussehra due to the state of emergency in the state; new dates for exams will be announced soon. Students need not worry," she said.
Telangana state’s capital Hyderabad was today again hit by heavy rains. After this, all the roads in the city were flooded and many colonies were inundated. The government alerted the DRF teams and GHMC officials in this regard. GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar directed the authorities to shift the people in the hinterland as well as the dilapidated buildings to safer areas.
