The state government made the announcement after the students approached the state education department expressing their concerns over the loss of certificates.
The Telangana State Government announced that the students who lost their certificates and documents in the torrential rains which hit several parts of the state will be issued fresh or duplicate certificates free of cost. Recently, Hyderabad got hit by heavy rains and subsequent flash floods which results in many of the students losing their educational certificates and other relevant documents with them being washed away or damaged in the rains. The state government made the announcement after the students approached the state education department expressing their concerns over the loss of certificates. The Special Chief Secretary of Education, Chitra Ramachandran issued the orders in this regard and the officials have stated that they have received a number of representations wherein hundred of students have lost their certificates or have been damaged due to the rain.
According to the official orders, the government examined the matter carefully and ordered all the authorities including the commissioner schools education, intermediate education, collegiate education, registrars of universities, and the technical education to issue fresh or duplicate certificates whenever the students apply for the same online or offline.
How to apply for duplicate documents?
Students who require a copy of the lost certificates can apply for the same by providing the required details including name, type of exam, hall ticket number, and the year of exam. Authorities also advised issuing the certificates on the application fee of cost. However, earlier, the students were supposed to approach the police to trace their lost certificates following which the respective bards would issue a new one. Considering the ongoing disastrous situation due to heavy rain, the government decided to mold the rules and the students can now apply for the new certificates through the education department directly or online.
