UP Board class 10 and 12 results 2018: Meet the toppers
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad UPMSP) or the UP Board today announced class 10 and class 12 results 2018. Like every year, girls outperformed boys in both the classes.
Rajnish Shukla and Akash Maurya topped the UP Board Intermediate (class 12) exam 2018 by scoring 93.20 per cent. Allahabad’s Anjali Verma topped the UP Board class 10 exam with 96.33 per cent marks.
This year, the total pass percentage of class 10 is 75.16 per cent and for class 12, it is 72.43 per cent. The state has performed the worst in last five years in terms of total pass percentage.
Congratulating the students, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath tweeted, "I am really happy that such a good result has come. I want to congratulate everyone who has passed in these examinations. This time all the exams were held without any complaints of cheating coming from anywhere." He also said that he will felicitate the top 10 students.
UP Chief Minister also congratulated the board officials on the success of copying free examination and releasing the results in a record one-month time.

Class 12 toppers
Class 12 toppers Rajnish Shukla and Akash Mauyra both scored 466 marks (93.20 per cent) to share the top rank among over 30 lakh students across the state. Rajnish hails from Fatehpuri and Akash is from Barabanki.
Son of an autodriver, Akash wants to be an engineer so that he can change his family's fortune. Tanking his grandfather for the support he provided in the journey, Akash said that if his grand father had not been there, he would have ended driving the autorickshaw and that he is grateful to his grand father for letting him study.
Rajnish Shukla thanked his parents and teachers for all the support they provided him during the exam preparation. Hailing te government's efforts to curb cheating, Rajnish said it is a good move.
Total pass percentage this year is 72.43. In the exam, 1,88,650 candidates have passed of which 95,1406 are boys and 9,34,644 are girls. The passing percentage of boys is 72.27 per cent and the passing percentage of girls is 78.81 per cent.
City wise, Lucknow with 91.24 per cent emerged the best performer, followed by Amroha with 91.15 per cent at second position. Ghaziabad is third with 90.82 per cent. The fourth and fifth position has been obtained by Hapur and Saharanpur with 89.75 per cent and 88.94 per cent, respectively.

78.81 girls cleared the examination successfully, while the pass percentage of boys is 72.27.
Amroha performed the best with 91.15 per cent, followed by Ghaziabad with 89.60 per cent; Muzaffarnager grabbed third position with 88.20 per cent. On the fourth spot is Shamli with 87.88 per cent and the fifth rank has been secured by Saharanpur with 87.41 per cent.
