Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting to review various digital education initiatives that have been undertaken by the Ministry. Pradhan reviewed various initiatives like National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR), PM e-Vidya, Swayam, among others. Ministry officials briefed the newly appointed Education Minister about several initiatives that have been launched in past one year.

The minister of state for education, Annpurna Devi, Rajkumar Ranjan Singh and Subhas Sarkar also attended the meeting. The Education Ministry had launched remote learning initiatives across India after the COVID-19 pandemic led to a total shutdown of schools, colleges and other educational institutions. The classes were shifted completely online mode last year to avoid any academic loss of students.

Stressing on the use of technology in education, Pradhan said that new-age education will leverage technology to be open, inclusive and accessible.

“A vibrant digital ecosystem in education will expand learning opportunities for the students, spur innovation and entrepreneurship in the Education sector,” he added. The minister further assured that the ministry will take measures to “strengthen and institutionalise” the digital initiatives. “A vibrant digital ecosystem in education will expand learning opportunities for the students, spur innovation and entrepreneurship in the education sector,” Pradhan said.
