WB Madhyamik Exam: Alleged image of Bengali question paper goes viral
Soon after the examination, a purported image of the Bengali question paper started making rounds on WhatsApp.
WB Madhyamik exams have begun on February 18. According to the West Bengal Board class 10 date sheet, the students appeared for the ‘first language’ exam on Tuesday. Soon after the examination, a purported image of the Bengali question paper started making rounds on WhatsApp. However, the authorities said that there was no report of any paper leak. The image went viral on the social messaging platform soon after the examination started at 12 noon in 2,839 centres across the Bengal state.
While commenting on the leak reports, Kalyanmoy Ganguly, the president of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) said that the Board does not have any such update regarding the alleged leaked image of the Bengali examination. They believe that the exams are taking place peacefully and smoothly in all the centres.
The president also requested the media and others to share the viral image with them to compare and ensure the fair conduction of the examinations. He further added that lives of more than lakhs students are involved with these examinations and no game should be played involving the children.
The Board is taking strict measures to avoid such malpractices. To conduct the examination smoothly, the Board had recommended suspension of Internet services in nearby areas of several examinations centres. The WB Board examination centres are spread across 42 blocks of the state.
This year, a total of 10,15,888 candidates are appearing for the WB Board class 10 examinations, out of which, 5,76,009 are girls.
In 2019, purported images of English, Bengali, Geography, History, and Mathematics papers went viral on social media during the exam. But the education minister Partha Chatterjee and the Board completely rubbished the reports of the leak.
