Salary package or career scope depends upon multiple factors like your potential, company you are placed in and the university you are studying. I suggest you to go with the course you think you can do better and choose a college with good placements -

Chemical Engineering is a better option than BSc chemistry as it has more career options as compared to BSc and also career growth in terms of Engg is high. With Engg degree one can easily enter the research field and many options are available. Although one can enter research field by pursuing BSc and then MSc also but more chances are with Chemical Engg is there. Also the starting salary of Chemical Engg is more than the chemistry graduate also career growth is also fast in Chemical Engg. In terms of educational qualification Chemical Engg has high repute than normal Chem grad.
