The field of management studies known as "Materials Management" is concerned with the organisation, acquisition, storage, and facilitation of transportation of raw materials needed for product manufacturing and customer delivery.

It is essential to ensure that a business has the appropriate materials for its activities in the appropriate quantities, at the appropriate times, and for the appropriate price. In order to avoid production delays and disruptions, make sure that supplies and components are available when and where they are required.
