Students with exceptionally good performance in the National Olympiads in Mathematics and Physics conducted by HBSCE and the Indian Computing Olympiad conducted by IARCS are exempted from writing the BSc entrance examination.
Typically, the following categories of students qualify for direct admission:
Students who have qualified for the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) or European Girls Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (EGMOTC) in Class 11 or Class 12.
Students who have qualified for the Orientation Cum Selection Camp (OCSC) in Physics in Class 11 or Class 12.

In order to get admission to the Chennai Mathematical Institute, the primary way to get admissions is via appearing in the CMI Entrance Exam 2025. However, there are a few instances where one can get admitted to the institute without taking the CMI entrance exam:
Students with exceptionally good performance in the National Olympiads in Mathematics, Physics and Informatics are exempted from writing the BSc entrance examination.
For CMI's PhD programmes, you can also qualify for the interview by writing national-level exams such as JEST and NBHM. Specific details are given below for Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics.

The Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) entrance exam for the 2025-26 admissions will be held on Saturday 24 2025 and 9:00 a.m. Application process is expected to begin around March 1 2025.
During the application process you have the option to select your exam city. There are 37 cities in which exam can be conducted. You can choose between them .

CMI Entrance Exam 2025 was conducted for admsisions to the BSc, MSc and Integrated PhD progarmmes in Mathematics, Data Science and Computer Science courses.
Section B of CMI entarnce exam 2025 had subjection type of questions where candidates need to answer the questions with all the logical reasoning.

Candidates preparing for CMI Entrance Exam 2025, must be aware that in order to get admissions in the Chennai Matgematical Institute one need to score good in the Section A of CMI Entrance Examination.
The Section A is considered to be quligying based as one need to score atleast 24 marks in the Section A of the CMI Entarnce Examination 2025. Section A will have 10 MCQ questions of 40 marks. In order to get their Section B evaluated in the CMI Entrance Exam, candidates need to score a minimum of 24 marks in the Section A.

For all the courses available at Chennai Mathematical Institute, before appearing in the examination candidates need to check the below mentioned exam pattern for Section B:
- In section B, there was 6 questions asked by the exam conducting body. The questions was in the subjective format. Candidates need to exaplain the answers with the logical reasoning. The total marks awarded for the 6 questions was 80 marks.
