Yes, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute is as good as MCE, infact a lot, better than MCE- Meenakshi College of Engineering. Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute has an edge over MCE in terms of the overall rating, placements and the average salary offered. Additionally, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute is a NAAC A accredited college as well.

The placements are comparable and since there is no data for last 2 years of placement statistics for MCE its hard to say. But overall Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute does provides somewhat better placements than the later. The former has many infrastructural benfits and last year Google also arrived into Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute which is rare for a college on that scale. So, Dr MGR Educational and Research Institute is on a upward track when it comes to placements.

Dr. MGR Institute would be a better choice. The packages of both the colleges are comparable, but the MGR college would provide a better campus life to you as it has wifi campus and well-equipped auditoriums unlike the MCE college which does not has any of these. Since it is very older than MCE, there is a better alumni network for the college. So, you can get better recommendations when you jump into internships and colleges. If you are getting same branch in both the colleges, than surely Dr MGR is the one you should go to.
Thank you.
