South Western Sydney Institute of TAFE accepts scores from various English proficiency tests: IELTS, TOEFL, PTE Academic and Cambridge English. IELTS calls for an overall score of 5.5 or 6.5, with no band lower than 5.0 or 5.5, depending on the course. In the case of TOEFL, scores range from 46 to 60, with course-specific requirements. PTE Academic scores range from 42 to 58, depending on the programme of study. Cambridge English scores range from 162 to 176, depending on the course. All these tests have differences in cost-IELTS costs about AUD 330 (which comes to approximately INR 17,500), TOEFL AUD 300 (approx. INR 16,000), and Academic IELTS about AUD 330 (which comes to approximately INR 17,500). 

There are several scholarships available for Indian students at ANU, including the ANU International Scholarship that provides 25% to 100% tuition fee waivers (2,900,000 to 13,800,000 Indian Rupees [INR] annually). The ANU College of Business and Economics International Scholarship provides a 50% tuition fee waiver (approximately 6.8 Lacs [Rs. 680,000] annual). The ANU Research School of Computer Science International Scholarship provides an annual stipend of AUD 28,597 (approximately 15,300,000 INR) and is a tuition fee-waiving scholarship. To avail these scholarships, Indian students are required to qualify with a minimum GPA of 5.0 out of 7.0 and make their application via the ANU website, with application deadlines ranging between April 15 to November 15 depending on the scholarship. 

Finding part-time jobs while studying at UNSW Sydney can be fairly easy, as there are many jobs both on and off campus. UNSW Sydney is well-respected by employers, and many students find themselves working part-time in sectors such as retail, hospitality, and administration. As stated on UNSW's Careers and Employment portal, nearly 70% of students do have part-time jobs while studying, managing to put in an average of 15-20 hours a week. The university offers career opportunities through its CareerHub platform, and over 1-100 part-time and casual jobs are advertised every year. Many students also manage to secure jobs nearby, with suburbs such as Randwick and Kensington racking in hourly wages between AUD 18-25, which is roughly INR 950 to INR 1,300.  

Indeed, as part of the admissions process, overseas students must demonstrate their English language competency, and one of the recognised examinations for this purpose is the overseas English Language Testing System (IELTS). The majority of undergraduate and graduate programs typically require an IELTS score of 6.5 to 7.0 overall, with no individual band score falling below 6.0 or 6.5, depending on the school. Certain degrees may have more demanding criteria, particularly in areas like business, law, and health sciences. Alternative options, including English language preparatory classes, may be offered by the university to applicants who do not meet the IELTS criteria. Students who have finished specific English-language courses are also eligible, as are other English proficiency exams including the TOEFL, PTE, and Cambridge English.

UNSW Sydney is an internationally recognised university in terms of its ranking although this may differ with ranking agency used. In the 2025 QS World University Rankings, UNSW Sydney remained at the rating of 19 while Victoria University was at the 29th position, out of 30 universities in the top 100 in the world Fleming et al . Though, in the upcoming 2024 THE World University Rankings, UNSW Sydney has fallen down to the 84th rank. However, it is important to mention that UNSW Sydney has published its research in the areas where it has been rather successful, for instance, in citations per faculty it was ranked 28th worldwide and in proportion of international students, 31st worldwide . Altogether, the result proves that UNSW Sydney is an internationally recognised and recognised institution.
