Students falling into the specified categories are entitled to a scholarship equivalent to 10% of the academic fee in the first year, if they do not qualify for any above-mentioned scholarships. Below category students can apply for Special Category scholarships:
- Wards of Defense Personnel
- SC/ST students
- Differently abled students
- Students from North-Eastern States (domicile based on the school's address in the 12th class, and for open school, the address of the exam centre in the 12th class)
- Students from all Union Territories (except Delhi), with domicile determined by the same rule as above.

JKLU offers Early Bird Scholarships to candidates who apply in various application rounds conducted by the university. Below is the criteria:
- In Round 1, an extra 15% scholarship is granted
- In Round 2, an additional 10% scholarship is provided
- In Round 3, an extra 5% scholarship
All scholarships are expressed as a percentage of academic fee exclusively. No scholarship covers technology fee, hostel, transport, and mess charges.

JK Lakshmipat University applications are currently open for 2025 admission. The university has not released any deadline for now. As per the last year dates, the university usually closes the first round of application by End of January. However, at least four application rounds are conducted by the university. Aspirants who have interested need to apply online for the preferred course.

JK Lakshmipat University offers seats in UG, PG and PhD courses based on entrance exam scores. The university conducts JKLU DET for admission to BDes and MDes programmes. JKLU also accepts CUET-UG and GATE scores for admission to specific programmes. The university also conducts merit-based assessment for a seat in BBA and BTech programmes. Selected candidates are further called for personal interview or personal interaction rounds. Once selected, aspirants need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

A minimum of Class 12 is required to apply for a UG course at JK Lakshmipat University. The university offers BTech, BDes and BBA programmes at the UG level. The minimum aggregate required for each UG programme is 60%. Hence, aspirants with 70% or more in Class 12 can get admission provided they also meet the selection requirements. The university considers CUET-UG or merit-based assessment conducted by JKLU for admission to BTech and BBA programmes. JKLU DET is required for admission to BDes programme.
