The minimum IELTS score students need to study at Waseda University Japan is 6.0. However, this is not applicable on all course. Each programme has its own IELTS score requirement. Students are advised to check the course page for IELTS requirement of the programme they're interested in. 

Students can choose not to submit an IELTS score. The university also accepts students with a minimum TOEFL-iBT score of 80.

No, students cannot transfer to Waseda University from their current institution anymore. Only the School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE) used to accept transfer students at the university. However, it has now discontinued transfer admissions from 2026 onwards.

The university accepted transfer students until 2025. But that is not possible anymore.

QS ranks Waseda #196 as part of its World University Rankings for the year 2026. Its Global MBA programme also ranks #201 in 2026. The university has consistently ranked among the top 200 universities globally, in the last 3 editions of the QS rankings.

There are no set minimum GPA requirements for entry to any of the schools at Waseda University Japan. Students however, are required to maintain great academic scores. The Waseda University Tokyo Acceptance Rate is only between 20% and 45%.

Students with good academics are prioritised for admission by the university. Shiksha Study Abroad counsellors (for free) can guide students the best on the requirements they need to meet to get into Waseda.

Yes, Waseda is one of the best universities in Japan for higher studies. The university, It has produced almost 50 Fortune 500 CEOs. Only 3 universities in the world, have produced more.

14 of its subjects also ranks among the world's top 100. this includes Arts and Humanities, and Social Sciences & Management.
