Yes, St. Xavier's College Kolkata was recognised by the UGC as an 'Autonomous' college in 2006 and as a 'College with Potential for Excellence' in the same year. The college has since become a 'College of Excellence' in 2014 and a 'College with Special Heritage Status' in 2015. The college is also ISO 9001:2015 certified and was given an A+ Grade by the NAAC.

The IMI Kolkata XAT Cutoff 2024 was released for admission to the MBA/PGDM course for all categories under the All India quota. The XAT Cutoff 2024 was overall 70 percentile for the General category candidates from the All India quota. This cutoff was for students to avail a seat at the Post Graduate Diploma in Management course.

University does not officially conduct dedicated campus placement drives specifically for MCA students. Many current and past students report that there is no structured placement cell or regular on-campus recruitment for MCA — especially compared to engineering or large tech colleges.
Some information even suggests that on-campus placement activity for MCA has been minimal or non-existent, and students largely have to seek jobs or internships on their own.
