Admission to the respective courses is offered on the basis of merit and entrance. The University offers respective courses at the total tuition fees ranging from INR 1.68 K to INR 2.07 Lakh. 

Admissions to NEHU Shillong is offered on the basis of merit and valid scores of accepted entrance exams. Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate in Class 12 for admission to UG level courses. Whereas, for PG level courses, candidates must secure valid scores in accepted entrance exams such as JEE Main, CUET UG/PG, CAT/MAT/AIMA and other national-level examinations suitable for the chosen course.

For 2025 admission, the Round 1 closing ranks varied between 1384 and 1686 for the students belonging to the General AI quota. Of all the MSc specialisations, the one with the lowest cutoff rank of 1384 was the MSc in Mathematics.
