Any candidate who has done bachelors' in the relevant stream can apply for the MA programme of Pondicherry University. However, the final selection of students is based on the scores obtained in the CUET PG entrance test conducted by NTA. After the exam, the students are required to register on the official website of the university and appear for the counselling process. After this, those with their names available in the merit lists released by the University can confirm their admission or block their seats by paying the admission fee.

Pondicherry University offers a five-year Integrated MA programme across four specialisations, namely History, Political Science, Sociology and Social & Economic Administration and Law (SEAL). Candidates seeking admission to the Integrated MA programmes of Pondicherry University must have completed their Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 50%. Yes, Pondicherry University, starting in 2022 is enrolling students in its Integrated PG and PG courses via CUET UG and CUET PG exams, respectively.
- Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is an all-India level entrance exam conducted by NTA for admission in UG courses offered in all the participating institutions. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode for two hours. Originally CUCET was conducted by UGC in paper-pencil-based mode. Last year onwards, NTA is conducting the test in a computer-based mode. In general, the admission process begins in March every year. For the admission session 2025-26, the application process started with the registration process of CUET on the official website of NTA. The university accepts CUET-UG for admission to its PG-integrated courses. To appear for the same, students must have completed their Class 12 with relevant subjects. Additionally, for some courses, candidates are also required to fill out the application form by visiting the university official website.
