No, there is no negative marking in CUCET. Therefore, candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as they can for higher chances of scoring well in examination.

Candidates will have to study topics from Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and English for CUCET 2026. Level of syllabus will be similar to 12th class syllabus.

There is only one paper in CUCET. However, for students with 12th standard qualifications in Science stream, they will have to attempt four sections in the paper - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.

According to official pattern, the total score in CUCET is 100 marks. There is no negative marking for wrong answers in CUCET.

CUCET paper will have objective questions. For every question, candidates will be given multiple options. Candidates will have to select correct option and submit it. CUCET question paper will be prepared from topics in official syllabus.

The sections in the CUCET question paper will vary as per the stream that the students had studied in the 10+2th standard. However, every student will have to attempt English/Hindi section in the examination. For the students who have studied Arts stream, they will also have to attempt questions from the General Aptitude. More details about the sectional division of the CUCET question paper is given online by the authorities. Students are advised to check the details carefully before preparing for the examination.

Students who have studied in commerce stream in 12th class will have to study different units and topics from English, Economics, Accountancy and Commerce. Total number of questions that students will have to answer in CUCET paper is 100. There will be 30 questions each in Economics, Accountancy and Commerce. English section will consist of 10 questions.

CUCET consists of 100 objective questions that candidates have to answer within given duration. However, division of questions in CUCET paper varies as per stream of candidates in 12th standard. English section is common and compulsory for all candidates.

The marking scheme of CUCET is prepared and released online by the authorities of Chandigarh University. As per the official marking scheme, the candidates will be allotted one mark for each correct answer. There will be no negative marking. Unattempted questions will also remain unmarked. Since there is no negative marking, the candidates are advised to attempt as many questions as possible so that they have a higher chance of securing the marks required for admission into the preferred courses.
