I really don't have any idea about comparison. But, I can give you information about scope of B.Tech in dairy technology. Being a Dairy Technologist (B.Tech- NDRI, Karnal) myself, I can clearly tell you that it has a very good scope. Even better than any other engineering. This industry will never run out of jobs and opportunities, plus you always have an option to go for higher studies if you are not interested in a job after B.Tech. But, as is the case of all other B.Tech degrees, where you do it from always matters. One other important factor is fees. Here you don't spend Lacs of rupees as fees, so it does not create a burden on you

Mechanical would be a better choice if you are interested in pursuing career in the industrial field. Dairy/Food would be better if you wanted to pursue career in it specifically. But you won't be able to pursue anything different after it.

Yes, Maths Students are eligible for any B.Tech course. Dairy Technology at first may seem like a course for Biology students, but it is also for Maths students. The course is aimed more on technology part than the dairy.

RIMT University is one of the best university in Dairy technology in Punjab. B.Tech (Dairy Technology) programme offers intensive training in milk processing, milk products quality control and engineering aspects of dairy processing equipment. During the seventh and eighth semester, the students shall undergo in-plant Training on dairy plant operation and management at Model Dairy Plant located in the institute's premises and in any of the commercial dairy plants.

Hi Jahnavi,
If your vocational subject in 12th was computer science then you will be eligible for B.Tech in dairy technology. But if at all, you have already done your graduation in computer science then you won't be eligible.
