In case of B.Tech. Dairy Technology graduates, the prime recruiters are Dairy farms and firms that processes dairy products. Average starting salary is generally between 2-4 Lacs Rupees per year. In case of business venture, earnings will vary much. In such firms, one may take on responsibilities such as-

The salary structure of a Dairy Technologist depends upon the candidate's educational qualifications, experience, area of employment, companies, etc. A fresh graduate in Dairy Technology is recruited as a Trainee and Shift Officer. In a private firm, a fresh skilled engineer can get a salary approximately. Rs. 6,000/- to Rs. 12,000/- per month. After few years of work experience, the salary goes high up to approximately. Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 15,000/- per month. Person designated as a General Manager, get the salary approximately. Rs. 20,000/- and up per month.

I really don't have any idea about comparison. But, I can give you information about scope of B.Tech in dairy technology. Being a Dairy Technologist (B.Tech- NDRI, Karnal) myself, I can clearly tell you that it has a very good scope. Even better than any other engineering. This industry will never run out of jobs and opportunities, plus you always have an option to go for higher studies if you are not interested in a job after B.Tech. But, as is the case of all other B.Tech degrees, where you do it from always matters. One other important factor is fees. Here you don't spend Lacs of rupees as fees, so it does not create a burden on you or your parents. Talking about getting a decent job, it always depends on you how well you are with academics and how much knowledge you have about your subject. I understand even after having these capabilities you need a platform. NDRI, for example, has a dedicated placement cell. And no one for that matter stays without a job.
