Following is the eligibility criteria for the fashion designing:
Class 10th completion Certificate (Completion 10 years of Formal Schooling)
Class 12th completion Certificate (Completion 12 years of Formal Schooling)
A Minimum of 45% marks in any stream in HSCE

Guidelines for the Design Aptitude Test DE-CODE for admission in Bachelor in Design programmes:
Centre For Design Excellence will organize DE-CODE (Design Aptitude Test) to be followed by PI (Personal interview) to understand the skills of the student who aspires to join CODE. DE-CODE simply works on the concept of measuring the capacity of applicants with respect to lateral/ conceptual thinking/ analytical and critical thinking. The candidates seeking admission in Bachelor of Design (B. Des.). Shall have passed the HSC examination (10+2), Have completed their 10+2 level from any recognised Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, or any other recognised examination with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Have studied at any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries which is recognised by the Association of Indian Universities to be equivalent to 10+2 system with minimum 50% aggregate marks. Possess a three or four year Diploma which is recognised by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% aggregate marks

NIFT conducts its own entrance exam which happens in two stages:
1. General Ability Test (GAT)-This exam comprises 4 sections namely Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, English Language Comprehension and General Knowledge.
2. Creative Ability Test CAT This test is administered to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. An important aspect of the test is the creative and innovative use of colour & illustration skills. Both the tests are important and mandatory to attend. Both take place on the same day and it's for all because NIFT has compulsory entrance test so a student who wants to take admission has to go through the test without the test and clearing it cannot go through so yes the fee for NIFT students and entrance exam is a must.
