Both Economics and Political Science are excellent options for government jobs, but the choice depends on the career path you aim for. Economics offers better opportunities in roles like RBI Grade B, Indian Economic Services, banking, and financial institutions, where analytical and quantitative skills are essential. Political Science, on the other hand, is highly relevant for UPSC, state civil services, and policy-making roles as it builds conceptual clarity on governance and administration. If you aim for competitive exams like UPSC, Political Science is a preferred subject.

After graduation, you have two options for further studies: either you can opt for a full-fledged postgraduate degree course for 2 years, or you can go for a PG Diploma or certificate course. A Diploma or certificate will be shorter than a PG programme and will provide you with the same industry relevant skills, but in a specific area of study.
Meanwhile, a PG course will provide an in-depth understanding of the whole subject.
