PSGCAS admissions have certain admission criteria and therefore it is important that students should know them first. The study of history, geography, and civics is not required. Even if you have a PCM degree, you can still take the UPSC Civil Services Exam IAS. Candidates can apply for the exam if they have a graduation degree in any field of education, but they must choose their own subjects to take the exam.

Any student in any field is eligible to take UPSC's IAS/civil services exams. Even though the majority of the topics covered on the exam are from the humanities, there is also a mix of Science and business topics. Therefore, choosing arts courses is not a rational choice.

The minimum requirement for the general category is a grade of "C" or better on the last four exams, including 85% in English . A general candidate should have at least 60% in four courses, including mathematics; for OBC, this number is 54%, and for SC/ST, passing marks are needed.
