Yes, the university conducts an entrance exam for admission to various courses. Aspirants of BBA, BCom, B.Ed, MSc, and courses in which admission is through an entrance exam must fill out the application and take the test. Alagappa University allots seats based on exam scores, academic records, and seat availability.

Admission to the Master of Technology course at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is based on the eligibility criteria and academic records of the candidate. The eligibility criteria for the M.Tech course at Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, is a minimum of 60% marks in B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc in engineering or sciences discipline.

The candidates can apply for admission to the M.Tech course through GATE, TANCET, PGCET, or PGECET exams, while direct admissions are also allowed.

The exam paper is divided into two levels. Level-I of the CRET test consists of two papers. Paper I has 50 objective-type questions of 2 marks each. Objective type 25 questions are from Research Methodology and 25 questions are subject-specific. There is no negative marking. Paper-2 is subjective with small, medium and long answer-type questions. The total marks of both papers are 300. Additionally, the application fee for the exam is INR 1,600 for unreserved and OBC category candidates and INR 800 for SC/ ST and PwD candidates.

The university offers admission to MTech course based on CEETA PG score. Besides, the university conducts an entrance exam for Integrated BTech + MTech and PhD courses. The entrance test will based on the basic knowledge of English, General Aptitude, Intelligence, Reasoning and Computer/ Internet awareness of a candidate in addition to the respective branch domain in the MTech.
