CAT is conducted annually in the time frame of (Nov-Dec) every year, might want to consider giving that exam. MAT and other management exams are also conducted around the same as prior.

That is a splendid profile for good colleges. It is very hard for Iims to reject the 9-9 profiles (90% in 10th 90%in 12th). Adding to that is your work ex which is a major profile decider. Also, you have a decent score in CAT so you can expect good calls.

You might want to give private colleges a try. With a 19 percentile score let's be honest government colleges will not approach you however, applying voluntarily to a private college will increase your chances of not skipping a year and from there on you can work on building your profile for a good job during your master's programme.

CAT selection is based upon profile so if you have a good profile (certification courses, work experience, academic achievements, you will definitely get a call from good colleges including Iims and IITs). 10th and 12th marks are also major contributing factors to these calls.

Understand the UPSC pattern and procedure first. Go through the UPSC syllabus thoroughly. Start reading a few books and watch video lectures online for a few basic subjects like polity, history, geography, etc. Read the newspaper regularly.

The answer is No. Coaching is not important for cracking UPSC exam. It's only a way to be consistent with your practice. You can start preparing on your own, if you think you can be consistent enough.

It's not really hard to clear UPSC exam in the first attempt. You just need to start preparations a bit earlier and thoroughly. You also need to know how you can manage your time. For preparing the exams, you need to give your best consistently. Start from going through the syllabus and last year exams paper. You can mark your weak and strong subject and make timetable accordingly as it's help to manage your time and efforts. You can know easily where you need to focus more.

It's totally depends on you, which subject you think will be your best to take points. Mostly candidates choose Geography as the optional subject as it's the highest scoring subject and popular among the candidates. But there's other subjects also like law, history etc.
