Life is a short course. Means, there is only one year Diploma course in fashion designing where you'll learn only basics of fashion designing that includes stitching only.

NIFT is no.1 institution for fashion technology go for it. One should choose M.FTech only if they have ample interest in Apparel/Textile & Fashion industries. It is mostly about Apparel/Textile production. It deals with the technical aspects of Garment/Textile industry, in addition with brushes of knowledge about fashion industry. If one has a B.Tech background, it will be much better. If you get one of the top centres, placement will not be a problem. No, you can't apply for IIFT. The eligibility for IIFT includes recognized Bachelor's degree of at least 3 years.

Hello Aiyyammal,
GATE 2019 is going to be conducted by IIT Chennai for 2019. There is a long list of examinations conducted by different universities or Institutions which make a student eligible to appear for GATE. I feel Fashion Technology could be a part of this. For your benefit I am attaching a link that will take you to the webpage giving detailed list of degrees or qualifications which will make a student eligible to appear for GATE 2019.

Fashion designing deals with the designing aspect of this industry, in which fashion designer focuses on designing innovative clothes and accessories. On the other hand, fashion technology is more about use of technology for the production of the fabric.
