AAFT's Practical Exposure

Industry‑oriented, hands‑on training
AAFT emphasises practical learning across filmmaking disciplines — directing, cinematography, editing, sound, and production — with most courses structured around hands‑on project work, mock shoots, studio exercises and live production labs rather than purely classroom lectures. The curriculum often follows a 70% practical, 30% theory model, meaning a big focus on doing rather than just reading.

Professional infrastructure on campus
AAFT has its own film studios, post‑production labs, shooting floors, cameras, editing suites and sound facilities, enabling students to learn equipment handling, real production workflows and post‑production tasks. 

Guest lectures & workshops
Students frequently get exposure to industry practitioners, masterclasses and expert mentoring sessions, which helps bridge theory and real work.

You can become a film or video editor from any stream. There's no strict requirement. Students from Arts, Commerce, or even Science all do well in editing—the real growth comes from practice, not the stream.

What matters is choosing a place where you actually edit regularly, work on real footage, and learn by doing. In that sense, AAFT is a very good choice because the training is completely practical, with students editing short films, news pieces, music videos, and a lot of hands-on projects.

In aaft the courses are designed and tailored under the supervision of Masters of the field and right after completing the course students get multiple opportunities to showcase their talent and sometimes they get opportunities even before completion of the course. 

One year Diploma course is designed very thoughtfully where students get full exposure with screen writing, camera, editing and direction, in tight One year schedule students learn crafting stories from scratch and presenting those stories on screen visually.
