M.Tech in Food Technology course can enable students to pursue their career in the area of Food and Dairy Technology, Food Technology and Biotechnology. You can definitely pursue a course in food technology being from PCB stream. Ample amounts of job opportunities are available in front of Graduates in Government as well as Private sectors. Competition for job posts is less, since there are relatively lesser number of Colleges offering this course and thus lesser number of students pursuing it. Thus, landing a good job is relatively easy, when it comes to Food Processing and Technology field.
Talking about Government sector, the Department of Food and Public Distribution is a well known recruiter. Within that Government agency, posts like Food Inspector, Quality Assurance Officers etc are available. State sponsored Food processing plants also are known to hire graduates.
The Private sector chips in with much more opportunities. Private Food Production firms, Processing plants, Storage and Preservation firms etc are known to recruit Graduates. Firms manufacturing Food Processing equipment and machinery also recruit graduates. Average starting salary varies, depending upon the nature of the job (Government, Private or own venture). On an average, it is between 2.5-4 Lakh Rupees per year.

1) To be a food inspector, you need to pass All India Food Inspector Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission for the recruitment in various offices all over the country.
2) Eligibility Criteria for the All India Food Inspector Exam :
** The candidate should be a graduate in medicine and should have undergone training in food Inspection.
OR
** The candidate should have completed Bachelor's degree in any of the science subjects. They must have studied Chemistry as a subject in their qualifying course.
OR
** Graduates in Agriculture/Pharmacy/Food Technology/ Dairy Technology are also eligible to apply for this test.
** Final year students can also apply for this exam.
** The candidates who have a degree from certified universities only are eligible for this exam.
** The candidate must be an Indian citizen
** Age limit for General category is 21 to 30 yrs. 3 yr and 5 yr relaxations are applicable for OBC and SC/ST candidates respectively.
