GATE Application Process

To retrieve GATE enrollment ID, candidates must keep their mobile number and email ID. The process can be checked below-

• Go to gate2026.iitg.ac.in
• Click on "forgot enrollment ID"
• Give OTP that is received on your mobile number
• Confirm, submit and retrieve enrollment ID

Candidates can retrieve their GATE user ID and password by clicking on GOAPS portal and selecting "forgot credentials" options. The details will be sent to your registered contact number. Save it and keep changing password frequently.

GATE 2026 application form comprises candidate and exam details. The information includes- enrollment ID, name, date of birth, gender, category, GATE exam details, e-signature, communication, payment details, etc. Candidates must check all particulars carefully.

GATE application form correction process will begin after the registration process. The GATE 2027 form rectification facility will be available from October 14 to 21. 

The last date to register for GATE 2026 without late fees have been revised from September 28 to October 6. The GATE candidate login 2026 link is now activated for the application form process. Candidates who want to apply must visit the GATE's official website and register to receive an enrollment ID and password and apply within the mentioned dates. 

GOAPS is also known as the GATE online application portal system used for performing GATE-related activities. With the help of GATE GOAPS portal, candidates can do the following -

• GATE registration
• Downloading admit card
• Checking and raising GATE answer key
• Downloading scorecard
• Checking cutoff scores

To access the GOAPS portal, candidates need to create an enrollment ID and password. 

While filling the GATE application form 2026, candidates have to enter their personal, communication, educational qualification, and documents (photo, signature and ID proof). Reserved category had to submit their caste certificate and PwD applicants had to submit their disability certificate.

The GATE enrollment ID is generated after registration. The enrollment ID is different for each applicant. It is used for accessing GATE related activities like form filling, hall ticket download, result and scorecard download, etc.

In the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Paper 1 is common for all aspirants, comprising general aptitude and engineering mathematics. On the other hand, Paper 2 is subject-specific, allowing candidates to choose a paper from their core engineering discipline. 

Overall, Paper 1 tests broader skills applicable to the engineering fields, while Paper 2 focuses on the candidate's chosen branch. 

Yes, final year candidates can apply for GATE (even if their results are not declared). Candidates must mention complete and correct details regarding their educational qualifications while filling out the application form. 

NOTE: Your final results are not required at the time of filling out the application form. Candidates must provide only the documents prescribed by the GATE authorities. 

However, make sure to keep a provisional certificate or a certificate from your Head of Department confirming your current enrollment, as it will be required at the time of admission or PSU recruitment.
