GATE Application Process

The steps to check the GATE application form status is as follows -

• Visit the GATE 2026 website - gate2026.iitg.ac.in
• Click on the application portal and login using the credentials
• The application status of the candidate will be displayed on the screen. 

To retrieve the GATE enrollment ID, candidates need to have their registered email ID and password. The steps to retrieve the GATE enrollment ID are as follows -

• Visit the GATE's 2026 official website
• Go to the GOAPS portal and select "Forgot enrollment ID"
• Enter your mobile number and ID
• OTP will be sent to your registered number
• Confirm the OTP and retrieve your enrollment ID.

To retrieve the GATE user ID and password, candidates can follow the steps below -

• Visit the official website and click on the application form link
• Select forgot credentials option
• Enter enrollment ID/email address and mobile number
• The details will be sent to your registered number. 
• Lastly, retrieve the GATE user ID and password. 

The ideal GATE password length must be around 8 to 15 characters. 

Once the application form is submitted, the printed GATE application form 2026 will consist of the following details -

• Applicant's details - (zone, enrollment ID number, name, date of birth, gender, category, contact number, etc.)
• Communication address
• GATE exam details - (GATE paper code and exam city options)
• Educational qualification details 
• Payment details
• Zonal GATE office contact
• e-signature and digital fingerprint

The GATE 2026 application form correction window will open after the completion of the registration process. The correction facility will be made available for a few days. However, as per the official notification, the last date to submit the changes is November 6, 2025. During the correction facility, candidates will be able to change a few particulars, such as exam city, category, exam centre, etc. 

The last date to register for GATE 2026 without late fees have been revised from September 28 to October 6. The GATE candidate login 2026 link is now activated for the application form process. Candidates who want to apply must visit the GATE's official website and register to receive an enrollment ID and password and apply within the mentioned dates. 

GOAPS is also known as the GATE online application portal system used for performing GATE-related activities. With the help of GATE GOAPS portal, candidates can do the following -

• GATE registration
• Downloading admit card
• Checking and raising GATE answer key
• Downloading scorecard
• Checking cutoff scores

To access the GOAPS portal, candidates need to create an enrollment ID and password. 

Yes, applicants can change their category after the submission of the GATE application form during the correction facility. An extra fee will be applicable for changing the category later. The details regarding the fees and process to change will be made available after the registration process is completed. As per the official notification, the last date to make corrections is November 6, 2025. 

Candidates must provide the following details while filling the GATE application form 2026 -

• Personal details, such as name, date of birth, name, mobile number, etc.
• Address of communication
• Education of eligibility (qualification details)
• Institute or college name and address with PIN CODE
• Choice of GATE papers and exam cities
• Documents (photograph, signature, valid ID proof)
• Other documents, such as category or PwD certificate (if applicable)
