The basic difference between both is that Geoinformatics is a broad field that merges Geography or Geology with Informatics. In contrast, Geology is a discipline that studies the Earth's structure, materials, and history. Their subjects, course curriculum, and career scope also differ.

MSc Geoinformatics students can work at the Indian Space Research Organizations, the National Remote Sensing Agency, the North East Space Application Center, and many other places.
Reputable companies such as Reliance Industries, L&T, Reliance Jio, Suzlon, and others employ recent graduates. Their starting pay ranges from INR 2 to 8 LPA on average.
