The GMCH Chandigarh seats are divided into two major categories: the All-India Quota and the State Quota. There are General (Open) and reserved seats in the both the categories. Within the State Quota, the following seat reservation policies prescribed by the Punjab & Haryana High Court are followed. The key pointers included in the reservation policies are as follows:
- 5% of the total MD and MS seats are reserved for Persons with Benchmark disabilities (PwBD) on horizontal basis as per NMC norms
- 15% of the total MD and MS seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to the SC category

According to the GMCH Chandigarh's seat reservation policy, BSc seats for various specialisations are distributed into two categories: UT Chandigarh Pool and General Pool. In each category, 15% of the seats are reserved for the SC category (subject to rounding off). The following table presents the number of seats reserved for SC candidates in each specialisation:
