Queen Marys College, Chennai has been at the forefront of the education of women ever since July 1914, when the Government of Madras instituted the Madras Womens College. The initial intake of Queen Marys College, Chennai is 33 students and was housed in a modest building called Capper House. However, by 1915, the college premises were expanded through the governments annexure of the area surrounding Capper House. You cannot enroll in B.Sc. Home Science if you are from B.Com. Yet you can enroll in the B.A. In Home Science. Qualification standards for home Science:
Admission to this programme requires that applicants have passed either the comparable exam or their higher secondary education
Many institutions require applicants to achieve a minimum GPA of 50% on the 12th grade exam or a comparable exam. Students interested in studying home Science at the postgraduate level should have a graduate degree in the field or a closely related one from an accredited university. Candidates for the home Science Diploma programme must have completed 12th or a comparable level. Many universities demand completion of a 10+2 with Physics Chemistry or Biology as courses in order to be admitted to a home Science undergraduate degree.
