No, direct admission is not valid at Hooghly Engineering and Technology College. Admission at HETC are completely entrance-based. The college admits students to its BTech programme by a valid score obtained in JEE Main and WBJEE entranc exams. Only candidates who qualify these exams will be able to secure a seat to courses at HETC.

Candidates seeking for admission to BTech must fulfil the basic eligiblity criteria of the course. Those who passed Class 12 with minimum 45% aggrgeate are eligible to apply for the course. However, they must have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/ Biology or Computer Application/ Computer Science as mandatory subjects.

Moreover, candidates belonging to reserved category must obtain 35% aggregate in their final exam of Class 12. Upon successfully verifying their eligibility, candidates must appear for the prescribed entrance tests like the JEE Main or WBJEE for admissions.
