One needs to have a Bachelors degree in nautical Science (B.Sc. Nautical Science) to start a career as a deck officer in the merchant navy. Below are the key details pertaining to B.Sc. Academic Qualifications: The candidate must have completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with: At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII.
