For UG: Candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum qualifying marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Independent entrance tests for this programme are also held by the various state, central, and private universities which mostly require 50% marks as the prerequisite to appear for the test.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification recognized by the Australian Association of Social Workers and have been in full-time employment (or equivalent) in social work for at least one year. Students who successfully complete the Graduate in Human and Community Services (GradCertH&CS) are eligible to apply for credit towards either level of the MSW programme.

A candidate must possess Post-graduate Degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics from a recognized University. A candidate who has appeared at a qualifying examination, the passing of which shall render him/ her eligible to appear at the IES Examination, but has not been informed of the result, can also apply for admission to the examination.
