Every year, the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering's B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering cutoff scores change according to the number of applicants and the difficulty of the entrance exam (TS EAMCET). For Mechanical Engineering, the cutoff usually lies between 10,000 and 25,000 in the rank range. Candidates must aspire to score significantly higher than the median on the TS EAMCET in order to get admitted. When the ranks and accompanying seat allotments are made public throughout the counselling process, the precise cutoff for a particular year can be verified.

Both the Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET) and the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) are acceptable entrance exams for M.Tech admission at the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering. While PGECET is unique to the state of Telangana, GATE is an exam that is administered nationally. Those who pass one of these tests with a valid score may apply to the institute's M.Tech programs. Candidates may additionally need to fulfil other eligibility requirements established by the institute. Admission is normally granted on the basis of merit, taking into account the results of these exams.

It has a 70%+ placement percentage for most of the department. Around 52 companies visit here to recruit students, and the placements are good for CSE, IT, ECE but not for other branches like Mech, EEE and civil.
