For undergraduate courses, such as B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Sc., the candidates need to have passed 12th standard examination in the relevant stream with at least 50% marks from a recognised board. The candidates also need to appear for an entrance exam conducted by the institute or a national/state level exam such as JEE Main, NATA, NEET, etc. The admission is based on the merit of the entrance exam and the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Candidates seeking PhD admission are required to appear for an entrance test conducted by SRM IST. This test is conducted via CBT mode. The test is followed by a presentation and PI round conducted by the related department. However, those who’ve qualified UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/ GATE or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from writing the deemed university-level entrance exam for admission.
