Great Lakes, Chennai and K J Somaiya are equally good institutes. Great Lakes is ranked higher than KJSIMR. Some of the important points while selecting an institute - Accreditation of the institute, institute's infrastructure, teaching faculty, specialization offered, past placements records, tuition fees, city preference, and industry interface. As both, the institutes are having the campus in different cities Mumbai and Chennai. Industry exposure is good for students in either of the college. Both campus K.J.SIMS and T.A. Pai are very popular in India. Let us compare both the campus.
1. KJSIMSR:- Fee is approximately Rs 12 lakhs. The maximum package is Rs 10.5 lakhs per annum and the minimum package is Rs 3.5 LPA. They have an alumni network of approximately 1000+.
The major recruiters include: HCL, Amazon, TCS, Reebok, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Shoppers Stop, Asian Paints, etc.

K.J. SIMSR and L.N.Welingkar are equally good institutes. Both are almost ranked same among B-Schools. ROI for K.J Somaiya is better among the two. Some of the important points while selecting an institute are accreditation of the institute, institute's infrastructure, teaching faculty, specialization offered, past placements records, tuition fees, city preference, and industry interface. K.J Somaiya Institute of Management studies and research has conducted placement drive for it's batch of 2017 around 220 recruitment agency participating in the process and the process is still on. Average package in 2017 at SIMSR is Rs 9.40 lakhs while highest package has gone to Rs 24 lakhs even before the process is over.
From amongst the 220 companies for 480 students across programs, 45 participated for the first time and a few visited after a hiatus. There are several parameters on which these two mentioned B-schools can be judged, and those parameters are:
1. Brand name - SIMSR scores ahead over SIMSREE.
2. Campus life - SIMSR is way ahead and probably offers the best among the B-schools located in and around Mumbai.
3. ROi - SIMSREE is the clear winner as it offers the second best ROI (after FMS, New Delhi) in India.
4. Placements - Both are at par; no significant difference. But considering the ROI, SIMSREE proves to be the clear winner.
5. Industrial exposure - Since both are located within Mumbai, they provide similar exposure.
