According to student reviews, the KJ College (KJCOEMR) dorm mess is mediocre to bad; some describe it as "not good," and there have been complaints about the food's healthiness. "Hostel mess is somehow not that good average food; … my health can also suffer," one person wrote. Another said the hostel was messy, but the food was good. Hostel fees do not include mess fees, and there are several different canteens on campus with differing levels of quality.

KJ College requires 10+2 students to have at least 50% in maths, physics, and chemistry (45% for reserved) in order to be admitted to the B.E./B.Tech program. JEE Main or MHT-CET scores are used for selection. Valid entrance scores are required for both the DTE CAP rounds, which fill 80% of seats, and the institute-level quota, which fills 20%. There is also lateral entry.
