It totally depends on you. If you basis are clear, then no need to join any institute, but if you think you need to practice and learn the concepts then do join.

XAT is a more challenging exam as compared to MAT, and requires a lot of focus and dedicated preparation to clear it with a very good score. Also, a lot of reputed B-schools like XLRI, SP Jain, etc. accept XAT scores, thus making it more important than MAT.

Both exams are for the gateway to management college. MAT and CMAT have defined some colleges in their list so, I would ask you to get list of the colleges and then decide your college and exams to be given. There are certain colleges which do have their own set of criteria for admission. I would ask you to visit the colleges I am listing as these have some good reputation.
