Medical entrance examinations are hard to crack. They require a lot of focus, deep analysis of theory and expert practical work.
If you are taking tuition or coaching to prepare for the medical entrance exam, your preparation time schedule should be like this :
1) Study each subject for at least 2 hours every day. You have the flexibility to adjust the time as per your comfort. You can divide the time spent on each subject as 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening
2) Spend at least 1 hour for solving last few years question papers for each subject
Take some rest after studying for 1-2 hours to keep yourself fresh and active. This

There is no age limit in both the exams but you should be more than 17 years old. So, you are eligible.

The eligibility criteria to appear for MBBS entrance examination in India is 25 years for general and 30 years for reserved categories. You are not eligible to become a doctor in India.

I would suggest not to take another year to prepare for the same and look for other options. Dropping one more year will only add more complications while making a career.
