Nowadays for fresh MCAs to get job directly is very difficult as most of IT industry vacancies are filled by campus placement. I will recommend that you do MCA for Institute which has good placement record. You may further do short mobile application development courses to increase your employability.

It depends on your interests and basic education qualifications. If you are BCA or B.Tech CS then Mobile Applications development is a very good specialisations. If you have Electronics background then Hardware and Networking is a good option.

Cant say that its harmful for studies.There are many leaning applications which helps students to enhance their knowledge and skills. At the same time using of Sexual Websites, over gaming tendency etc.will spoil students life.
So it is important that how they use its application or for what purpose a student use his mobile.

Making mobile phones is more about hardware then software so you can opt for embedded system , electronics or chip designing.
