NATA exam is divided into two parts – Drawing Section and Aesthetic Sensitivity Section.
Tips to perform well in the exam:
1. A candidate should analyze up to 20 years of NATA's previous papers, to understand the question patterns. He should keep himself updated with new, existing and old architectural structures in India and around the world by reading newspapers, architecture based magazines, journals and more. The more the candidate knows about architecture, the more are his chances of scoring well.

Hi Anchal,
Yes, there is a lot of difference in the syllabus as well as the courses.
Nift is for fashion designing and for other related fields purpose, Nata is solely for architecture.
For NIFT
You study current affairs, English, general maths and drawing abilities which includes designing poster or logo. Something which measures your designing aspects
There are 2 papers, one drawing paper another general ability test.
For NATA
You study architectural awareness, general maths (hardly 2-3 questions are expected), synonyms and antonyms and visualization. The drawing paper includes view, ant's eye view etc. Something which measures your skills

Hi Sudhanshu,
Yes, 12th percentage is taken into consideration. 50% of Class 12 Marks+ 50% of NATA Score.
NATA is an entrance examination with the format: 100 marks for drawing and the 100 marks for aptitude test and architectural general knowledge. To join B. Arch, your NATA score and 12th Mathematics and English marks will be considered.

To crack the exam, the preparation requires the right approach along with the right study materials and strategy. Plan your preparation after knowing your strengths and weaknesses. You need to be organized and follow a time-table. Focus on the method of solving the problems. Spend the initial few months in revising the basic concepts learnt in standard 9th and 10th.Ensure that you study concepts like algebra, mechanics extensively as they also form the basis of several other topics. Yes, NATA is important for architecture because NATA is conducted by the Council of Architecture and most of the institutes /colleges accept only NATA scores.
NATA is an entrance exam for admissions to 5 year B.Arch. degree course offered by all institutes / schools / colleges of Architecture in India (including Govt., Govt-aided, Private Unaided, University Depts., Deemed Universities, etc.).
NATA is a test which only tests drawing and 3D interpretation skills and even students from humanities or commerce background can answer the exam.The exam does not test mathematics or science knowledge.

JEE Main Paper 2 is conducted for admissions to B.Arch/B.Planning courses at NITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions. JEE Mains paper 2 is based on both drawing and maths skills, it has a math section (level is same as the Jee Mains paper 1) and a sketching and 3D interpretation section. The rank you obtain in paper 2 is independent of the paper 1 rank. The exam, like paper 1 is conducted by CBSE and helps you get admission in SPAs ( School of Planning and Architecture) and the B.Arch courses in NITs.
