Patna University is spread across 181.58 acres of land. The university has a big central library. The total no. of volumes at present is over 4 lakh, out of which there are 50,000 back journals and 87 periodicals. There is a Patna University IT cell, Patna University Press, a working library that has more than 5,000 valuables, and a big guest house. There is the availability of a computer lab, Geochemical Research Lab, Physiology and Biochemistry Lab, Entomology and Toxicology Lab, and various other kinds of labs available at the university.

Candidates having Master's Degree with atleast 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-Point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). A Relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/EBC/BC/Differently able categories of candidates.
