The curriculum of 1-year long PGDCA course is divided into 3 categories: Core, Elective, and Lab subjects. Students have to study and clear all the core subjects covered in the program, however, the elective subjects are optional subjects that can be chosen, and lastly lab subjects are practical.

Core subjects include Fundamentals of IT, C+ Programming, Oracle, Java, and PPM & OB. Whereas elective subjects include Web Development, MS Access, FoxPro, etc.

Students must have completed graduation/ post-graduation from a recognised university/institute. They must have taken Mathematics in 12th. Those candidates who are in the final year of graduation/ post-graduation are also eligible to apply. Various institutes have different eligibility criteria for admission.

 RGCSM certifications are not guaranteed to meet this criterion unless explicitly recognised by the BPSC.For a BPSC teacher's job in Bihar, a PGDCA qualification must be from a recognised government institution or university

Candidates seeking to join the PGDCA course at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) need to have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates will appear for the JMIEEE entrance exam based on which the selection will take place. The candidates whose scores are better would be called to counselling. Dates and detailed procedures for the application can be obtained from the official website of JMI for the current academic year only.
