In order to get the admission in GNM course in R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital without entrance test, the applicant must fulfill the following condition: She/He must be the Indian citizen and permanent resident of West Bengal and should passed 12th standard with 40% of marks . The authorities who accept the applications make a merit list to admit students into GNM course and this merit is based on the marks they obtained in the exams for their previous courses. R G Kar Medical College one of the oldest medical colleges in India, established in 1886. RG Kar Kolkata is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) and is recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The institute has an attached hospital named RG Kar Hospital. RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has 1,663 beds and emergency wards with a total of around 40 beds. The total inpatients registered in the hospital are 17,547. It is a decent college, however, it has been in the controversies lately.

No, students need to appear for national-level entrance exams in order to secure admission at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. For MBBS, candidates must appear for NEET (UG), for MD/ MS programmes, students need to appear for NEET (PG). For BSc and MSc courses, aspirants must appear for JENPAS UGWBCHSEand JEMScN and JEPAS PG, respectively.
