The university offers many scholarships on the basis of merit and other factors. Merit scholarship is provided to students who scored well in Class 12. Other scholarships are provided to wards of serving/retired/expired Military, Para-Military, Police Personnel residing in Northeast region. Students who perform well in Dance, Music, Theatres, Fine Arts, etc. also get some scholarship on fees.

The eligibility is Class 12 with minimum 45% or 50% aggregate from a recognised university. Students from SC/ST/OBC - Non creamy layer category get a 5% relaxation on the minimum aggregate required. Applicants can see the specific eligibility for the course they want to opt for on the official university website.

The merit scholarship is given to students who have a good score in their Graduation degree. Such students get some scholarship on total fee and they have to pay less fee compared to other. Those who have 90% & above in Graduation, receive a 100% scholarship on fee.

The University Scholarship Committee of RGU Guwahati has prescribes the following criteria for the grant of Royal Merit - On Admission Scholarship to students enrolled in UG-level courses:
