For B.Tech (Lateral), candidates must have passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks for Backward class and PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only), Alternatively for B.Tech (Lateral), candidates with B.Sc. From a recognised university as defined by UGC and obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks for Backward class and PWD candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) and passed 10+2 with Mathematics as a subject, are also eligible. Students appearing for 10+2 or Engineering Diploma are also eligible. Maharashtra State candidates must have to appear for MHT CET. All India candidates need to appear for MHT-CET/JEE Mains. However, JEE Mains will be preferred over MHT CET. Selection Criteria
Admission is through counseling conducted by DTE Maharashtra based on marks obtained in Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) or rank obtained in JEE-Mains. For international students admission is through counseling conducted by DTE Maharashtra based on marks obtained in mandatory subjects in 10+2. The admission for first-year engineering degree courses is done through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP). To become eligible for CAP the candidates need to register their application online. They can visit the website of the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra and fill-up the form. Candidates have to report to the Application Form Receipt Centre (ARC) for document verification. Candidates will be shortlisted for CAP rounds based on their score in the entrance exam and preferences given by them for courses and colleges. Hello Rajesh, it's very nice to hear from you that you want to continue with your job while studying in the college for graduation in engineering also. Frankly speaking the study in an engineering college is substantial and student meets all the time available to understand the subject and study. This perhaps me not be feasible if you are working for almost 7 to 8 hours in sum company and then simultaneously spending time in college, since this would definitely be required for marking attendance, and then finding time to study the subjects. Of course nothing is impossible in the world. If you can manage your office timing along with the college timing and in addition find time to sleep and also to study you are most welcome to proceed with your scheme of things. You have stated that you have obtained about 95 percentile in JEE Mains. Then you go on to ask two questions. Firstly whether you will get admission in Sardar Patel College of Engineering at Mumbai based on this entrance exam and secondly about lateral admission in this same institution. Let me clarify. Admissions to all the engineering colleges in Maharashtra except perhaps IIT and NIT are based on the entrance exam conducted by the government of Maharashtra called mht CET. You will get admission in in SPCE based only on this. Of course few seats may be reserved for what is called as national quota admission is based on JEE entrance but the seats are very limited and hence no one can predict whether one get admission on not. Second, lateral admissions are not given based on JEE Mains examination in Maharashtra. One simply have to register on the website of DTE for admission under this category.
