Yes. It is necessary as SNU Chennai admission takes place through the SNUCEE entrance exam, it is according to this exam, candidates are chosen for the personal interview round and further selected for admission. The personal interview is taken by the faculty of the institution.
SNUCEE takes place in four phases from April to June, however, candidates can appear only once for the exam. Candidates can refer to the university website to have a look at the upcoming dates and updates for the SNUCEE entrance exam.

If we compare the tuition fees for BSc at SNU Chennai with those of other private colleges in the country, we will find that the tuition fee is much higher. The total cost for enrolling in BSc at SNU Chennai is INR 7.91 lakh. The eligibility criteria to apply for BSc in SNU Chennai are a minimum 75% aggregate in the science stream with Mathematics/ Business Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science as one of the subjects from a recognised school board.
Candidates who are eligible for BSc admissions in SNU Chennai should apply for the SNUCEE entrance exam through the university website. SNUCEE happens from April to June and is followed by the Personal Interview (PI) for selected candidates. PI is taken by the faculty members of the programme and is the last round of admission.

If a candidate wants to avail of hostel services while doing their BSc at SNU Chennai, then the candidate will have to pay the hostel fees which vary from INR 98,000 to INR 2.32 lakh depending on the type of accommodation chosen.
Hostel rooms are available in single and shared occupancy with air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned rooms. Candidates can also choose if they would want an attached bathroom with their rooms or not. Depending on the type of room chosen the hostel fees are calculated.

The total tuition fee for SNU Chennai BSc is INR 7.5 lakh. If we add all the other fees a student has to pay to get into the university, the cost goes on to INR 7.91 lakh for the duration of the full course. This cost excludes hostel fees and transportation fees of the university. The hostel and transportation fees vary according to the kind of accommodation of the candidate.
The admission fees include a refundable caution deposit of INR 20,000, a non-refundable application fee of INR 1,500, and an admission fee of INR 20,000. The semester fee of the programme comes out to be INR 2.5 lakh per semester which is to be paid over six semest

SNU Chennai offers only one BSc programme. The programme that the university offers is BSc in Economics (Data Science). It is a full-time three-year graduation programme which combines the triads of Economics, Data Science and Finance.
