On an average, it takes about 10-15 days for a Switzerland visa to get approved. However, students are advised to apply early as they may have to face a visa rejection and apply again with the required changes.

 In order to study in Switzerland and apply for a student visa, you must show the proof of sufficient funds for your higher studies. All Indian students are required to show the Schengen embassy that they have a minimum of CHF 21,000 (INR 22.75 L as on 18 Aug 2025) per year for a student visa in Switzerland.

The fee for the Switzerland student visa varies from CHG 50 to CHF 100, depending upon the Swiss embassy or consulate where you submit your visa application, basically it should be one within your country of residence. This fee is accompanied with the documentation charge (the one that entitles you to be granted with a Swiss student visa) which is provided by the Migration Office of the Swiss canton, responsible for processing your application.

No, an IELTS score submission is not necessary for a Switzerland visa as universities in Switzerland do not mandate it as a part of their admission process, or they waive scores for selected bachelor's and master's degree programs, provided the students meet academic entry requirements. Hence, as an international student, you can study in Switzerland without IELTS. However, keep in mind that any English language proficiency certificate may be required. So you must take up either the IELTS or IELTS1 href="https://www.shiksha.com/studyabroad/exams/pte">PTE or any other major English exam.
