Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent or Class 10 along with three-year Diploma with at least 50% aggregate (45% aggregate for SC/ ST) can apply for the BDes course. Additionally, candidates appearing for the final year exam can also apply for any of the BDes specialisation. SID Pune offers BDes in four major disciplines, namely Communication Design (Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Animation, Film Design, Video Film Design), Industrial Design (Product Design, Interior Space Design), Fashion Design and Fashion Communication. After filling the application form, aspirants are required to appear for Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) followed by Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction.

Symbiosis Institute of Design provides admission to BDes course based on Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) score. SEED exam evaluates candidates on parameters like color, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions, etc. Candidates shortlisted as per SEED score are further called for Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI). Final selection will be based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction as well as on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and the chosen specialisation. The eligibility criteria for admission to the B.Des programme is determined by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). The candidates can go through the program-specific eligibility criteria on the admission portal of SID - sid.edu.in. 

SEED 2024 eligibility criteria for the B.Des programme is explained below.

A candidate must have passed 10+2 (any stream) or an equivalent or 10+3 Diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% (SC/ST - 45%) aggregate marks.

Candidate who are appearing for the final examination of 10+2 grade or 10+3 Diploma programme may also apply. However, the results of the examination should have be declared by June of the admission year or prior.
