Candidates who qualify the HP TET exam will be provided with the eligibility certificate so that they can apply for the teacher recruitment in Himachal Pradesh schools for Punjabi, Urdu, TGT (Arts), TGT (Medical), JBT, TGT (Sanskrit), TGT (Non-Medical), TGT (Hindi), Special Educator (For Pre-Primary to Class-V), and Special Educator(For VI to Class-XII). However, candidates need to fulfill the age limit and eligibility criteria prescribed by the respective teacher recruitment agency to apply for the job.

The HP TET exam question paper is set in bilingual language- English and Hindi languages. Each question in the exam, except for English language, is given in English and Hindi. The HP TET question paper is made available in two languages for every paper. In HP TET Shastri paper, the questions are partially Sanskrit and partially Hindi. Punjabi/ Urdu/ Language Teacher paper is Punjabi/ Urdu/ English only. Candidates need to read the questions carefully before marking their answers.

HP TET exam is conducted twice every year. The first session of the HP TET exam is held in June and the second session is held in November. However, the decision is taken by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education. It is a state-level exam conducted by the HPBOSE. The HP TET exam is for checking the eligibility of candidates as teachers in the schools of Himachal Pradesh.
